I don't think this town exists. Perhaps I have discovered some sort of Brigadoon. Or perhaps I have somehow found myself in a children's story. I'm not sure, but this place cannot be real.
When we moved from Hick-ville, 20 minutes down the road we thought we were moving closer to shops, church, friends. We did not realise we were entering an enchanted land. Now, correct me if I'm wrong here, but there is no such thing as a real-life place with
*a library. (okay, okay, not so amazing. But we've been without for two years. It's amazing to me.)
*a fabulous park with a wading pool. (and the pool is open from 12 to 8. 12 to 8, people, that's like, all day.)
*a beach. (like a nice one. It could be the set of a steamy teen drama.)
*woods. (real woods with a creek and everything. The kind where wood elves and dryads live.)
*old people riding bicycles. (all the time. with baskets)
Plus we have an apple tree on our yard, and the neighbours have a different variety hanging over our fence. And the other neighbours have a Nanking Cherry tree that hangs over the fence. (The cherries are just about ready...)
* * * * * Down to business. The name issue must be resolved. So here goes. Barring any violent protest new bloggy names shall be as follows :Husband = Music Man (this indicates his general field without saying his exact profession)Baby = Monkey (most used nickname, and very apt)The blog will remain Whitekirk, because, as Bren pointed out, lots of churches move and don't change their names. (Oh, just in case you didn't get it, our old house was a church, which we called Whitekirk.)
I'm having some blog troubles. Maybe someone can help me...
I am trying to change/update my side bar features (Reading log, links etc.) but when I go to Layout to change them I click "save changes" and it says "saving..." forever, but never actually does anything. I am so frustrated! Help anyone????
(again, apologies for my lame-o posts, and lack of them...)
oh yeah, also, I can't sign out.
You know, I've watched Shaun of the Dead enough times, you would think I would do better than this. Oh well.
(sorry the posting has been on the slow side. when I have something to say, I will...)
I just said good-bye to Baby and Husband. They are going to play soccer (well, Husband is. Baby will cheer him on.) That means I have the house to myself. This never happens, and I don't know what to do. I will not do the dishes in the sink, because Husband promised to do them when he gets home. I will not unpack any more boxes because, well, I don't want to. I will not clean anything.
It seems, I have forgotten what I like to do.
I guess having a baby will do that to a person, although I always thought it wouldn't happen to me. Spending every waking minute (and some not-so-waking) caring for another human being causes one to forget one's self.
So, I have to remind myself WHO I AM.
I am:
A pianist
A singer
A songwriter.
A believer in Jesus Christ.
A sister, a daughter, a wife (oh yeah, and a mother)
A walker.
A reader.
Crafty.
Creative.
Caring.
A good friend.
Funny.
Fun.
Silly.
Melodramatic.
A musical theatre lover.
A sunbather.
A camper.
A tea drinker.
A choco-holic.
Pretty.
Smart.
Important.
Okay, I feel better now. I think I will go outside and plant the rest of my flowers.
Feel free to tell me who YOU are.
Baby's future wife has been born!
Congratulations Bren and Husband. We love you guys.
Welcome to the world, Anja! You are beautiful.
Some of you may have noticed that a number of the books in my Reading Log are children's books. I like reading children's books for a couple of reasons. First, a well written book is just as enjoyable for an adult as a child (if not more so. I enjoyed the Anne series much more this time around.) Also, they make good reading for bedtime nursing. You don't have to think too much, the chapters are short, they are exciting.
Also, I recently read "A Christmas Carol." (I know, it's June. I don't care.) I have never read it before and it is quite a charming little story in its original form. The only problem was that I kept picturing all the characters as Disney characters. Clearly, "Mickey's Christmas Carol" is the version I am most familiar with.
Even more recently, namely last night, I finished reading Lucy Maud Montgomery's "The Blue Castle." This was recommended to me by a friend as her favourite Lucy Maud book. The same person who told me I had to read Jane Eyre. I will be asking her for many more book suggestions. This was a wonderful book. Now officially my favourite LMM book too (I can't believe I hadn't read it before this!) You have to love it when you need to know what happens next so badly that your eyes skip ahead and your brain can't stop them. One of only two books that I wanted to read again as soon as I finished it (the other being Crime and Punishment. This time I might actually do it.)
On another note, I have some name issues. I need new blog names for Baby and Husband. Also, we no longer live in Whitekirk. Do I need to change my blog name? More later...
10 Ways you can tell I'm not a character in an American Soap Opera
