Things I *Love* About a Manitoba Winter

Bearing in mind that it is actually technically autumn for another three weeks.

*How my car won't start, because we didn't plug it in. And then how it still won't start after being plugged in over night.
*How the back of my head hurts from the cold when I'm out walking, because the elastic in my toque is all worn out.
*How getting dressed to go outside now takes approximately six hours (give or take...)

Okay, but now some things that I actually love about a Manitoba winter...
*How everything is so pretty and white.
*How tomorrow is my birthday.
*How all the Christmas songs about snow actually mean something here.
*How a hot chocolate or cider is essentially mandatory after being outside for any length of time.

Apparently NOBODY cares ab
out the Blue Bombers losing the Grey Cup. For my American readers, a little translation...
Winnipeg Blue Bombers = a team in the Canadian Football League
Grey Cup = CFL equivalent of the Super Bowl

Some Monkey-Business - -

He is walking and talking like a crazy man. He says well over 20 words now (we lost track around 20). He is so much fun and has such a great sense of humour. He likes the snow ("no") so far, but he hasn't played in it very much yet, due to the ridiculously cold temperature. We are getting a little bored though, so if you have any suggestions for activities to do with a 13 1/2 month old, let me know...

I'd love to have that snow here. It just rains and gets icy and icky. Happy Birthday tomorrow!

I had no idea what the BLue Bombers were. I guess I knew there was a CA Football league, but knew nothing about it.

At that age and older, DANCE PARTY is a super fun thing to do when you're stuck inside. Turn on some music you both like, and dance like idiots.

Happy Birthday! I had it on the calendar and everything and STILL forgot to send a card. Drat!

2 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
3/4 c. water
Stir, then knead, the make hand/footprint ornaments for the Grandparents. Make a hole to tie a hangy ribbon through. Bake at 300 for an hour, dry for a couple days, then coat with mod-podge. Voila!
(We're actually making them as I type.)

*I was too sore about Wpg losing to comment. We did watch the whole game though. At least he tried.

It was -35 today. MINUS THIRTY FIVE. That is too cold for anything - I had to be outside for tiny little spurts of time (walking through a short parking lot to the car) and I got a bit of FROSTBITE on my hand.

I don't even know what you are talking about. Plugging in the car? A toque? It is like you are speaking a different language!

I joke--I actually know what a toque is--because Beck blogged about it recently.
