Ode

Posted by Picasa

Dear vessels out of which we daily sup,
Wherefore is it so hard to clean you up?
At six o'clock we gather for to dine,
Why are the dishes still unwashed by nine?

If anyone else needs some encouragement in their kitchen they should probably watch this. (You should also watch it if you like getting emotional for no good reason.)

Oh, and if anybody has any really great tips for keeping the grocery bill down, I would love to hear them. My maternity benefits run out any day now...

Edited to add: By "nine" I mean nine the next evening. Or the evening after that...

It's so HARD getting into a routine of keeping everything washed up, isn't it?
Grocery bills: man, I wish I knew. Planning helps, and so does shopping the flyers. Cut back on non-essential things (like pop, boxed cereal, premade meals) and buy no-name. That's about it...

Okay, that video is officially the best thing ever. At first I was cackling hysterically (so much so that hubby came running in to see what was going on), and then by the end I was senselessly choked up. Awesome!

I'll have to save the video for when the Husband isn't home.
Groceries...I'm with Beck; it's all in the planning. We've had a couple weeks where it's like, 'Okay. What can we make using ONLY the ingredients we have in the cupboard, which is beginning to look rather bare?'
You get pretty creative. But yeah, no name and/or bulk; most everything from scratch. Good luck!

We plan the meals for the week, then make a list of the ingredients we need for meals, then stick to it. We save a lot of money when we don't just go and buy whatever we feel like, but stick to the list! (It's hard though!)
