Clearly the posting has been on the slow side around here lately. I know I don't need to explain that it has been a busy holiday season and blogging has not been my top priority. However, I feel I should explain that I have been a walking zombie lately, due to Monkey's decision to boycott sleep. Some of you may recall that I've been through this before. However, Monkey will be 15 months old next week and well, frankly, he should be sleeping a lot better than he is. He loves going to bed, he just hasn't quite got the knack of staying asleep. For longer than three hours at a time. Oh, I'm tired.

We've had a good start to the year, though. Well, other than the kitchen sink that wouldn't drain and Monkey's first band-aid (other than for immunization shots...). His chin had a run in with the wrong side of a metal penny-whistle (yes, I know, this could only happen at our house), so he has a nice semi-circular cut on his chin.

Some really good things have happened already this year too. Like I made my first loaf of bread in the bread-maker that I got for Christmas. And it turned out perfectly. We've had visits with two couples that are very dear to us. And we had a family gathering yesterday with the Music Man's "K" family. It was a lot of fun. This is what we got in the gift exchange, which made me smile.

It was from The Music Man's cousin who lives in Texas, but was up for the holidays. Too funny. Some of you may also recall that I've already learned my lesson about messing with Texas.

One of these days I will get around to posting about our holidays, and maybe sharing some of my favourite Christmas recipes. (Yes, I know I should have done this BEFORE Christmas instead of after...) I hope the New Year is going well for all of you.

I don't mind seeing holiday recipes at other times of the year. In fact, I prefer to think about stuff in advance.

I hope you get the sleep issues worked out. I remember that every few months I felt like I had to do a repeat sleep training.

Are you kidding? Who says Christmas recipes should be relegated to one lone month of the year. Bring 'em on....how about starting with corn chowder.

Great presents! The red will match your car nicely. :)

Oh and....while I'm sorry to hear about your, rather MONKEY'S, sleep issues, congrats on your first successful bread! If you're looking for some really good/easy bread recipes, check out kingarthurflour.com - they've got lots about the science of bread too, just in case you're looking to injure your tired brain some more. :S

Man, I'm glad it's not just me. I was thinking about asking you about this since I knew the kids were close in age and MOnkey is still nursing right? Maggie does the same thing and I was just telling myself, "she should be past this by now!" I've told myself it's because we cosleep and she is just so near me and wakes when I stir or is following my sleep pattern. But Monkey sleeps in a crib doesn't he? So maybe it's not necessarily the sleep arrangement. I thought maybe it's just a breastfed baby thing. some nights are great, some not and she waskes up 4 or 5 times or more. I can deal with 2 or 3, it's easy to go back to sleep. But more than that and I'm annoyed and groggy! BTW, I didn't know you and Bren J were BFF:) Y'all look cute in the photos! Made me realize I didn't know what you looked like I don't think!

Yeah. My kid doesn't sleep well either. At least she goes to bed at 7:30 so Ken and I get a little time to ourselves :)
