Okay.
So today is Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Carnival, Pancake day. Whatever you call it, it means one thing. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent. Now, the word Lent, to me, conjures up memories of somewhat reluctantly putting my allowance money into a Share Lent box, and telling my Sunday School teacher that I was going to "give up bugging my brother" for Lent this year. That was many years ago and my perception of Lent has changed.
I have done different things for Lent over the Years. One year Joel and I gave up TV. One year I gave up Chocolate. One year we committed to do push ups and sit ups everyday. I will now share with you what I am planning for this year. Once I say it, I can't go back...
1. Give up chocolate. Hmmm. I've done it before, I can do it again.
2. Floss my teeth everyday. I should be doing this already anyways. I figure after forty days of doing it, I will be firmly in the habit.
3. Only check email etc. ONCE per day. It's like back in college looking in the mail room every time I walked passed it. The more often I check, the more often I will be disappointed. Also, this decreases the likelyhood of me frying another mouse with static electricity...
Okay. Now it's out there, no going back.
I would encourage anyone else who is observing Lent in some way to leave a comment about what they are doing. May this season be a blessing to you.

Good grief! I forgot it was Shrove Tuesday!
You'll be happy to know that 'They' say it only takes 30 days to establish a new habit; so your flossing theory should prove true indeed!
Ah...the mail room. I almost miss it. But now seeing the mail lady pass by our house makes my heart just droop. Pathetic, I know.
Oh! P.S. Please share about the hazards of emailing as they affect mice. My curiosity has been piqued.
Well, let me tell you. As you know, MB winters are not only very cold, they are very DRY. This makes for a lot of static electricity. We are constantly getting shocks. So our "policy" is to always ground ourselves before touching the computer. One day I forgot, and after getting up off the very static-y afghan covered bed, I touched the mouse of our computer. There was a huge arc and it hurt my hand as I shocked the mouse. It turns out, the mouse was totally fried. We've been using the laptop for a couple of days as we waited for our new mouse to come (our computer is still on warranty, so we didn't just buy a mouse. We have our computer back now.)
So watch out! Learn from my mitakes.
Very clever, how you misspelled the word "mistakes".
Thanks for pointing that out, meanie.
